Halloween Is My Favorite Holiday… and Apparently My Fabric Knows It

If you’ve been inside Sew ’N Sweep lately, you may have noticed something.

There’s Halloween fabric.

Then there’s less Halloween fabric.

Then suddenly I’m standing there asking, “Wait… didn’t we JUST get that bolt in?”

Welcome to Halloween at Sew ’N Sweep.

Halloween is hands-down my favorite holiday, which means I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to ordering spooky fabric. Pumpkins? Order it. Ghosts? Obviously. Black cats? Put it in the cart. Skeletons? Yes. Cute little bats wearing hats? I probably need two bolts.

I tell myself every year that I’m going to behave.

I do not behave.

The Problem Is… You Guys Love Halloween Too

Apparently, I’m not the only one who gets excited when the spooky fabric starts arriving.

Some of our Halloween fabric barely gets comfortable on the shelf before somebody takes it home.

One minute I’m opening the box thinking, “Oh, this is SO CUTE!”

The next minute, half the bolt is gone.

And honestly? I love it.

There’s something ridiculously fun about Halloween sewing. You can make quilts covered in ghosts, table runners full of pumpkins, trick-or-treat bags, wall hangings, pillows, placemats, tote bags—or something completely weird that makes absolutely no sense during any other month of the year.

Halloween gives you permission to be a little strange.

And I fully support that.

If You Love It, Don’t Wait

Here’s my warning from one Halloween-obsessed fabric lover to another:

If you see Halloween fabric at Sew ’N Sweep that you love, GET IT.

Do not stare at it for 20 minutes.

Do not tell it you’ll come back next week.

Do not assume I have another bolt hiding in the back.

Because you may come back and discover that another Halloween-loving quilter has already adopted it.

And then we’ll both have to stand there looking at the empty spot where your fabric used to be.

Very tragic.

Very spooky.

Very preventable.

So come dig through the Halloween fabric while the selection is good. I’ll keep ordering spooky things for as long as I can justify it—which, considering Halloween is my favorite holiday, is probably longer than I should.
